11th Dec. 2011
The list of this season's award winners will be posted in the Results section very soon. All individuals will receive an award. Team managers requiring extra team trophies must contact me as soon as possible, or before 20th December at the latest.
I look forward to seeing you at the Presentation Evening in February.

Thanks to all my team at Rossendale, and all the officials who helped to stage the last fixture in fairly challenging conditions, and congratulations to all the athletes who ran in one of the toughest and muddiest courses we’ve had in recent years. There were no injuries as far as Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue team were concerned although I did witness several lost shoes along the course. I have several items of lost property so if you have any missing items please email me and I’ll try to get it back to you.
Everything went well until the start of the last lap of the senior men’s race when an over enthusiastic, and misinformed, spectator apparently directed the leading five athletes into the finish. Ultimately, it is up to athletes to know the course, but I can understand the dilemma they faced when given bad advice from someone who they thought was a Race Marshall so, as race organiser, with responsibility for the course, I would like to offer my personal apology to the athletes concerned. Fortunately, Tom Carson’s overall position wasn’t affected by the mistake although this may not be the case with the others concerned.
Overall results are now on the web and a list of the award winners will be posted after Wednesday’s committee meeting. Please note that team managers or individuals must inform Ken Smith, or me, of any errors in the results prior to this, the last committee meeting of the season. Tickets for the Presentation Evening, on Saturday 4th February, will be available from team managers after the meeting.

Please note the revised courses for the final fixture at Marl Pits. Full changing facilities and showers will be available in the pavillion adjacent to the track, and refreshments will be served upstairs in the clubroom.
Registration for guests and team managers will also be situated upstairs in the same room.
If the car parks are full, and you have to park on Newchurch Road, please ensure that you do not block residents' drives.
The course is extremely soft underfoot so it is important that we keep off the football and rugby pitches when warming up and walking the course. Failure to do so will put the fixture in doubt in the future.
Results may not be available on the day, but they will be on the web on Sunday at the latest. Any queries regarding the results must be registered before Wednesday December 7th, the date of the last committee meeting when the overall results are approved. After this date it will not be possible to make any revisions.
Finally, there will be a minutes silence before the start of the senior men's race to pay our respects to Radcliffe Athletic Club's President, Terry Nortley, who sadly passed away on 20th November.

13th Nov.2011
Thanks to Nick Howarth and his team at Bolton for an excellent third fixture at Leverhulme Park. The revised courses proved very popular, judging by the feedback I've received so far, and resulted in some exciting races.
Provisional results have been published as have the standings in the series so far. Please notify your team managers or myself if there are any queries.

9th Nov. 2011
The results from Hyndburn have now been amended and agreed by the committee and are published on the results website.
Arrangements for the next fixture at Bolton have been finalised. Please note the following:

The course maps are on our website.
Club tents should be errected adjacent to the start and finish areas.
There is ample space on the main car park, and additional parking is available on Long Lane, but please be mindful of the local residents.
Toilets and showers are available at the athletics and community centre. Please do not attempt to use the facilities at Premier Fives.
Registration will be on, or near the track. This is for team managers and guests only. Athletes from affilliated clubs must see their team managers for race numbers.
I am told that the course is suitable for spikes or studs but obviously individuals should make their own decision on the day.

The Presentation evening will now tale place on Saturday 4th February and not Friday 10th February.

23rd Oct. 2011
Thanks to Norman Mitchell and his team who hosted our second fixture in glorious sunshine at Hyndburn. Again, this was very successful and the numbers running, 221 in the men's race, indicate how popular the league is proving these days. Several traditionalists have commented on the lack of mud so far this season but I'm sure this will be put right at Bolton in a few weeks, and, if not, at Rossendale in December.

The results from Leigh have now been corrected and agreed. Please inform your team manager of any problems with the provisional results from Hyndburn.

9th Oct 2011

Many thanks to Joe Galvin and his team at Leigh, who put on an excellent fixture
for us all.

There are a few problems with the provisional results, which usually happens at the first fixture of the season, but yesterday the delays on the M60 prevented some team managers and numbers arriving on time. We will attempt to resolve all of the problems and queries in due course, and certainly before the second fixture. If anyone has any issues with the results please refer them to myself or Ken Smith, and your team manager. If necessary we will contact Graham Fecitt at Sportsoft.

As an experiment this year we videoed the finish of every race, so we should be able to correct any errors. Please be patient and remember that the results only become official at the next committee meeting, and only when we are satisfied that they are correct.
